Child Welfare

We are totally committed to the provision of a safe environment for our young cricketers. As such, we have adopted the ECB Safe Hands Policy, and are in the process of implementing it. The Safe Hands initaitive is a framework for ensuring that children are safe within our club. The details of the scheme can be downloaded from our "download centre"

The club have appointed a Club Welfare Officer, whose role is to co-ordinate safety activity and be the first point of contact should you have any concerns. Contact details for the Club Welfare officer are provided here.

The measures we have taken or are taking are detailed below:
Training As you can see from the above, we have taken appropriate courses and training in child protection matters.
Photography As you can see from the website, we like to use photographs to record and promote cricket and social events within the club. However we recognize the potential risks for inappropriate images and use of photography is prohibited is the changing and shower areas. Furthermore, if you are unhappy with any image on the website, please contact the Club Welfare Officer who will arrange for its immediate removal.
Changing Rooms If your child plays for a senior team, mixed changing and showering may occur. We have made it club policy that adults should refrain from changing and showering at the same time as children whenever possible. However, if your child is uncomfortable changing or showering with adults, no pressure will be placed on them to do so, and we shall encourage them to do this at home.
Transport It is important that a safe transport policy is implemented. The club policy is that we provide lifts with players from the Clubhouse to the away game and back to the clubhouse. We do not provide transport to an individuals house. In all cases a youngster should not be alone in a car with an adult.
CRB Checks All of our coaches and managers & those who deal first hand with young people are going through a CRB (Criminal Record Bureaux) check (see certificate above). Other members of the club who may come into contact with young people will complete a "self-assessment form"
Coaching We are introducing guidelines for coaching concerning the treatment of young people - covering various aspects from discipline to phsical contact.
